Breaking down the 2026 provincial budget for Alberta's nonprofits.

Alberta’s 2026 provincial budget drops at the end of February, with promises of responsible decisions focused on “what matters”.

While the government’s 2025 mandate letters outlined broad priorities, the provincial budget reveals where commitments turn into action. We’ll find out where the government is investing, where it’s cutting back, and what opportunities – and pressures – may be coming next for nonprofits.

Join Nonprofits Vote for Political Gossip with Friends, where our soon-to-be-announced panel of economic and political insiders will gather to unpack the 2026 Alberta budget. You can expect thoughtful insights, key themes, and a better understanding of what the numbers might mean for your organization and the sector as a whole.

Whether you’re familiar with public finance or still learning the difference between capital and operating expenses, you’ll leave with clearer context and maybe even a few “aha” moments.

If the provincial budget shapes your work, your funding, or your future, you’ll want to be part of this conversation.

Turning Insight into Readiness: The Virtual Nonprofit Outlook for 2026

Due to the excitement and interest in our Turning Insights into Readiness in-person event, we’re hosting another session virtually. If you weren’t able to get tickets to our Calgary event or aren’t able to make it in-person, join us on February 10th online.

About the Event:

There's no shortage of reports about the nonprofit sector. What's in shorter supply is shared understanding and practical ways to prepare for what's ahead.

That's why we're bringing the sector together for Turning Insights into Readiness: The Nonprofit Outlook for 2026.

This 90 minute event starts with a look at the trends we’re seeing across the nonprofit landscape as we head into 2026. We'll translate the data and signals and tell you what they actually mean for nonprofit leaders navigating change, complexity, and opportunity.

Then, we’ll turn those insights into real-world readiness, with the launch of a new RBC Foundation and Calgary Foundation–supported capacity-building program, designed specifically for Alberta nonprofit leaders and the realities they’re facing right now.

Through this session, you’ll get:

  • Clear insights and analysis of what the nonprofit sector is facing in 2026

  • Practical guidance on what matters most for nonprofit readiness

  • Details on how the program works, who it’s for, and how to apply

Can't wait until February 10th? Check out our 2025 State of the Sector report for the data behind the story: read more

Thank you to our supporters, RBC Foundation and Calgary Foundation, for their collaboration in making these programs possible.

Webinar: I Need to Talk To You: The Art of Navigating Difficult Workplace Conversations

Let’s get one thing straight off the top. “I need to f*ing talk to you”, is a bad way to start any conversation, let alone one with a co-worker. Unfortunately, too many leaders have started conversations this way. Usually, it’s because some issue has been festering for weeks or months and it has finally reached the point where we can’t stand it anymore. In this webinar, Ken and Russell will discuss why leaders often avoid difficult conversations and watch two actors try to navigate a typical conversation. You’ll have the chance to offer feedback and explore the B.E.E.F. Model as a technique for structuring these conversations.
