Your nonprofit brand is the most important ingredient to attract and connect with the right people to support your organization. Now more than ever people are consciously choosing how they spend their money and what causes they support. In this webinar, you will learn about the critical three shifts that every nonprofit has to take right now to master their messages online and pivot their brand and stand out in the digital space:
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are key concepts that are currently in the spotlight in our work lives, and in the public psyche. Over the years, these concepts gain prominence and popularity depending on the various influences from our environment – including politics and lived experience. In this webinar, Anila Lee Yuen of the Centre for Newcomers discussed why only creating demographic diversity is not enough to truly ensure equity and inclusion.
Startup culture has resulted in many of the innovations we all experience in our daily lives. In this webinar, David Yiptong of Platform Calgary looked at five takeaways that any organization can learn from startup culture to help move their own organization forward.
Human beings are complicated. Your workplace doesn't have to be. One key area that many organizations struggle with is how to manage underperforming employees. This webinar provided key insights to help you understand how to stop negative employee patterns/cycles, and approach performance issues in a productive and respectful manner.
2020 has been a hard year for many workplace teams. Stress levels are higher than ever before, and the pressure to do more with less is weighing heavy on most employees. This webinar discussed concrete, actionable strategies to address the three most common factors that impact our mental well-being at work.
Increase your organization’s impact by ten times! Public policy programs offer organizations the opportunity to increase their impact without significant organizational growth. In this webinar, participants joined a conversation about how influencing policy is a strategic and high-leverage approach to advancing your organizational mission.
Effective government relations can help you advance your mission, influence public policy, and increase revenue. From advising government of the ways in which community services can be more efficiently delivered, to sharing the data that can be used in the development of public policy, this webinar was designed to illustrate both the value and significant returns for nonprofits who engage in government relations.
Growing demands on resources and increasing complexity of issues require bridging traditional and untraditional boundaries to create powerful partnerships for social change. What does it take to build effective partnerships for lasting impact and meaningful improvements in communities? Can organizations rethink the opportunity to do partnering better, to raise the bar on partnerships?
The COVID-19 crisis, like every other, requires strong leadership. The crisis presents both danger and unrelenting change. Leaders must rise to the challenge of dealing with new operational realities, employee concerns, and their own shifting emotions and concerns. Fear, confusion, and uncertainty abound.
Attracting and retaining the right talent requires employers to offer fair, equitable and competitive compensation programs. In this webinar, Janet Salopek, Founder of Salopek and Associates, shared information you need to know to ensure your compensation program is aligned with best practices.
Many nonprofit organizations work under high-stress situations with minimal budgets. Employees may sometimes feel that they have no place to turn for help in dealing with uncomfortable situations. To work through these situations, managers and employees both can learn how to actively listen, and defuse situations and find resolution through collaborative solutions.
Why do people do everything in their power to avoid making difficult changes? Why do some jump in with both feet? Why are some leaders more successful at guiding people through change? It’s not charisma. Navigating change is a partnership between employees and leaders. In this webinar, presenter Jeff Skipper taught participants proven steps to take to predict the response to change and help people embrace it successfully.
Nonprofit Connections

Last year, many nonprofits and charities saw a staggering decline in their overall donations and funding. As we move into 2021, innovative solutions are needed to ensure that the nonprofit sector remains a vital support for the prosperity of our communities through the pandemic and beyond. Social enterprise and social finance investments are often pointed to as one solution for how we move forward, but what does this really mean?
At this Nonprofits at 2:00, Neetu Sidhu of ATB Financial will moderate a panel of expert speakers who will discuss how social finance and social enterprises can support organizations in recovering lost revenue and establish more secure sources of revenue moving forward.
Albertans can expect the release of Budget 2021 in February, which will set out the government’s financial plan as well as it's overall taxation and spending priorities. Moderated by CCVO President & CEO Karen Ball, this Nonprofits at 2:00 brings together an expert panel of speakers for a candid discussion about what the nonprofit sector might expect in next year’s budgets at different orders of government, how nonprofits can be influential during this time, and what the next few months will mean for the sector.
Corporate investment is shifting in new ways in response to not only the pandemic, but also economic and societal changes across Alberta and Canada. What do these changes mean for corporate investors and their investment response? What does future adaptation for corporate investments look like?
In this session, moderator Lori Hewson led a discussion around the impacts of multiple external factors on investment into the nonprofit sector, as well as ways in which nonprofits can realign their funding priorities to reflect the shifts in corporate investment.
The nonprofit sector is at the forefront as it works closely with those affected by the pandemic and protects the stability and health of our communities. Consequences of a weakened nonprofit sector are serious and far-reaching, both economically and socially, and no single economic recovery plan will be enough – future prosperity will be built through strategies that involve government, the nonprofit sector, and the private sector.
In this session, moderator Todd Hirsch joined panelists in conversation as they addressed the effects of the pandemic on the nonprofit sector in Canada, as well as related impacts on the private sector.
What does a vibrant, post-COVID-19 prosperous community look like, and what role does the nonprofit sector play in achieving that vision? Let’s get one thing straight off the top. “I need to f*ing talk to you”, is a bad way to start any conversation, let alone one with a co-worker. Unfortunately, too many leaders have started conversations this way. Usually, it’s because some issue has been festering for weeks or months and it has finally reached the point where we can’t stand it anymore. In this webinar, Ken and Russell will discuss why leaders often avoid difficult conversations and watch two actors try to navigate a typical conversation. You’ll have the chance to offer feedback and explore the B.E.E.F. Model as a technique for structuring these conversations.
