Alberta Voted!

On October 19, Albertans went to the polls to answer ten questions about immigration, constitutional reform, and Alberta's future in Canada.

While votes are still being counted, Albertans have sent a clear message that our future is in Canada. On the other questions, preliminary results point to support for a number of changes, although many of those votes are much closer. Together, the results will shape important policy conversations about Alberta's future and the choices our provincial government makes next.

For the Nonprofit Chamber, our work on the referendum doesn't end with the vote. Over the past several months, we have focused on helping nonprofits understand the questions and participate in the democratic process. Now our focus turns to what comes next: understanding how government responds to the results, what changes are proposed, and what they could mean for nonprofits and the communities they serve.

We will share more once the results are official. In the meantime, you can track the unofficial results on Elections Alberta's website. Official results are expected October 29.

Thank You for Participating

Through the Nonprofit Chamber and Nonprofits Vote, we've spent the past several months talking with nonprofits across Alberta about the referendum. We've participated in 10 events and two podcasts, unpacking the questions, answering questions, and making space for thoughtful conversation.

Thank you to every organization that invited us in, and to everyone who participated, asked questions, shared a perspective, helped others get informed, or cast a ballot.

A healthy democracy depends on people participating in it. Alberta's nonprofit sector showed up, and we are grateful to have been part of it.
