The 2025 Nonprofit Chamber AGM

At the end of October, over 220 Nonprofit Chamber members and other sector leaders and supporters registered to gather in celebration of the past year's milestones and what's ahead for Alberta's nonprofit sector.

Angie Gélinas, CEO & President of the Nonprofit Chamber

2024 was a big year of transition for the organization: we welcomed a new CEO, Angie Gélinas, and began a new chapter for the Nonprofit Chamber, focused on deepening our impact while continuing our long-standing commitment to strengthening the nonprofit sector through connection, insight, support and advocacy.

In her opening remarks, Gélinas highlighted the role the Nonprofit Chamber plays when it comes to creating space for dialogue, collaboration, and collective voice. At a time when public trust is particularly fragile, that role in promoting civic dialogue is so important in holding communities together.

Calgary Mayor Jeromy Farkas speaking at the 2025 Nonprofit Chamber AGM

Calgary’s newly-elected mayor, Jeromy Farkas, stopped by, hours before he and his council colleagues were to be sworn in, to say a few words. He spoke about the vital role nonprofits play in shaping thriving, resilient communities. A special thank you to the Mayor and his Council colleagues, D.J. Kelly, Nathaniel Schmidt, and Andrew Yule, for joining us. We appreciate Mayor Farkas' commitment to working with the Nonprofit Chamber to support and strengthen the nonprofit sector across our communities.

We also shared a few exciting announcements. We're pleased to welcome four new members to our Board of Directors: Danisha Bhaloo-Shivji, Chris George, Laura Istead and Shahid Qureshi. Their expertise and leadership will help guide the Chamber's work in the years ahead, and we're thrilled to have them join us.

And save the date! On April 23, 2026, the Nonprofit Chamber is bringing back the Connections Conference, gathering more than 600 nonprofit champions to explore how we can collaborate, innovate, and strengthen Alberta's nonprofit sector. Stay tuned for more details, including program and registration information.

As we look to the year ahead, the Nonprofit Chamber remains committed to building a united, dynamic nonprofit sector – one that is recognized and respected as an integral partner in creating strong, healthy communities.
